Summer is ripe with beer-centric activities from tastings to
brewery-sponsored concerts to outdoor events. Fortunately for us, our city
loves this frothy beverage so much that it hosts a Winter Craft Beer Festival
full of creamy stouts, rich porters, and hazy IPAs. Join our community’s beer
lovers this February to keep warm inside while sampling the gamut of new and unique
brews. Here’s what you need to know.
When and Where
Celebrate an event that comes around once every four years –
leap year! This February, the Winter Craft Beer Fest
takes place on this infrequent and special occurrence, meaning there’s no excuse
not to go. VIP tickets grant access at 12, but for everyone else, the festival
runs from 1 – 5 pm and takes place at Balch Fieldhouse at Folsom Field.
Must Love Beer
A ticket to Boulder’s Winter Craft Beer Festival allows
participants to sample all the beer they care to. Many of the breweries are from
Colorado, however, a few, like Cigar City and Bell’s, have come from the
far flung locales of Tampa, Florida and Kalamazoo, Michigan.
This event focuses on ‘disrupting’ the ordinary and
introducing extraordinary to beer lovers in our great state. The Winter Craft
Beer Fest encourages guests to break their usual routine and step out of their
beer-drinking comfort zones. Taps will flow with every kind of beer you can
ever dream to sample, so, even if you have a preference, you just may discover
an entirely new world of wheat-based beverages.
Spend Saturday strolling from booth to booth, chatting with
head brewers, and sipping expertly crafted beer. Dig into delicious eats from a
variety of vendors or make a pretzel necklace to have an on-the-go snack that
is the perfect complement to beer. Listen to live music and be on the lookout
for fun surprises throughout the festival.
Rules and Regs (The Fine Print)
There are a couple stipulations for entry. No one under 21
may access the festival – including babies and dogs. Designated drivers may
come for $5 but cannot be under 21, either. Transportation options are aplenty
so organize a designated driver, plan to Lyft or Uber, or take a bus back home
after the fest.
Throughout the year, Boulder hosts a plethora of awesome
festivals that celebrate craft, culture, and creativity. The Winter Craft Beer
Festival allows guests to break out of any beer rut and shake off the cold
weather blues by sampling new brews from treasured brew masters.
